In order to guarantee, the attraction to the stock market of companies that operate in the mining sector in Mozambique , the Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM) and the National Institute of Mines (INAMI) initialed on December 15, 2020, a memorandum of Understanding.

The two institutions agreed to collaborate with a view to strengthening the partnership in the dissemination and awareness of the admission to listing of companies in the mining sector on the Mozambique Stock Exchange and the use of capital market products, as well as the registration process of companies. mining companies at the Central de Valores (CVM), in a specialized service of BVM that deals with the registration, control, settlement and clearing of securities.

Speaking at the occasion, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BVM, Salim Valá, said that the Mining Law provides that companies in the mining sector may be listed on the stock exchange and that in light of this legal provision, the two institutions will work in together to sensitize companies and comply with what is set out in the Law.

According to Valá, in addition to allowing companies in the mining sector to list on the stock exchange, this partnership aims to establish cooperative relationships that contribute to the development of financial education, training, training and research in the fields of mining, economics, the financial system , capital market and stock exchange, as well as the role of BVM in financing companies in the mining sector.

He ended by stressing that BVM is committed to working with INAMI to ensure the implementation of the Public Private Partnerships Law, large projects and Business Concessions ((Law No. 15/2011), in order to disperse between 5 to 20% of the your capital.

In turn, the Director General of INAM, Silvestre Sênvano, emphasized that any company, whether national or foreign, that intends to engage in mining activities in Mozambique is obliged to comply with the provisions of the Law.

He went on to state that, we initialed this protocol to work with BVM, in order to raise awareness among all companies operating in the mining area to use the services and products that the Exchange has for the market.

Both institutions recognize the importance that the capital market and the Stock Exchange has for the continuous improvement of the business environment, and the competitiveness of the national economy, through the provision of financial and market information and collaboration in the promotion of good management practices. of Mozambican mining companies and encouraging inclusion and financial literacy.
