From May 21 to 26, 2017, a team led by the BVM´s CEO, Salim Valá, visited Tete Province on a mission organized by the Provincial Directorate of Economy and Finance of Tete.

The trip was also aimed at operationalizing the strategy regarding the engagement of the business community in the Province and promotion of the Financial Education Program.

The visit consisted of meetings with the business community and potential investors, a lecture at the Catholic University of Mozambique, and to the academic community of the Pedagogical University (UP) and Higher Polytechnic Institute of Tete, where students from the Commercial Institute of Mártires de Wiriamo attended. Visits were paid to companies in Tete City, Districts of Tete, Chiúta and Angónia, and there were also business meetings with senior government officials and staff, as well as with members of the Provincial Youth Council.

The nature and essence of the capital market and the role of BVM were disclosed in the interaction with the provincial players (business community, civil servants and the academic community), especially with regard to listing procedures, advantages of investing in the stock market, alternatives of financing through the Stock Exchange, the need to promote savings and productive investment, among other aspects.

During the meetings held, BVM´s CEO urged those present to disseminate information on the relevance of the capital market and how to access its products, and to raise awareness of the local economic agents in order to use BVM as a financial instrument for promoting economic development of Tete Province.
