"The Stock Exchange is a business center with ethics, transparency, compliance and accountability , a center that welcomes companies and investors that want to do business adopting and respecting the rules in force in the country," argued this Monday Salim Cripton Valá, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM).

Valá was speaking on the sidelines of a lecture on "Ethics in Business Investment", given by Dr. António Grispos, a businessman, former Chairman of the Board of the Mozambique Commodities Exchange, and member of the Supreme Council of Administrative Magistrates. The lecture was inserted in the framework of the celebration of the Anti-Corruption Day in the African continent, which was celebrated on July 11, 2022.

For PCA of BVM, ethics is of vital importance in any financial market, thus being an indispensable requirement for the fight against corruption and other illicit acts, with a view to promoting ethics and morality in society.

"The issue of public ethics has to do with morality, fighting corruption, promoting transparency, and the issue of compliance. These are central issues in the functioning of any stock exchange," he stressed.
António Grispos began by highlighting the urgent need to rescue ethical values as the right way to moralize society. Grispos defends that ethics must be present in all sectors of activity, reminding that any attempt to find solutions in the business field should not, under any circumstances, ignore this important element.

"Ethics must be present at all stages, but especially at this time when people, faced with desperation, tend to think that anything goes. This is when we have to find mechanisms or solutions for our business, but in an ethical way," said António Grispos.
Our source also noted that every effort should be made to eliminate unethical behavior and rescue the values of ethics and morality.

The reinforcement of education campaigns is the path pointed out by the President of the Central Commission for Public Ethics, Páscoa Buque, for the change of paradigm in what concerns the registration of violation cases.

Despite recognizing significant advances in relation to the institution of norms in the various sectors of activity, she considers that there is still a long way to go, hence the involvement of all segments of society in this great march is fundamental.
"What we know is that the cases, unfortunately, happen and are there. Our role is to continue to educate and train, so that there is retraction, to ensure compliance with procedures, standards, and codes of conduct, which fortunately many institutions and many sectors have, but the bottom line here is compliance. The point is really to comply with what has been instituted in each of the companies," reiterated Páscoa Buque.
