As part of its social responsibility policy

, the Mozambican Stock Exchange (BVM) donated two tonnes of essential products and toy kits to Cooperativa Luana Semeia Sorrisos on 9 December in Maputo, for the benefit of children with disabilities.

The gesture, part of the Solidarity Christmas celebrations, aims to reinforce the cooperative's ability to respond in terms of assisting children, most of whom have motor disabilities. This is the second consecutive time that the Mozambican Stock Exchange supports the Luana Semeia Sorrisos Cooperative, with more than 90 beneficiary children.

For the Chairman of the Board of Directors of BVM, Salim Cripton Valá, despite the difficult context that families are going through, the gesture comes to develop hope within children, as well as their families.

In this sense, he called for the involvement of all the living forces in society, stressing that each gesture counts and has the ability to generate real changes in the lives of these children with needs.

“As we are in the festive season, we wanted, together with the children, Cooperativa Luana and the mothers, to pass on the message that everyone is important. You deserve and can fight to have a better life, with a view to materializing all of your human potential. It is these children who, tomorrow, will be teachers, doctors, engineers, athletes and artists. We, as a country, cannot waste these talents.

We need the strength, energy, talent, intelligence of these children and their mothers to develop our country”, said Salim Valá.

For her part, Benilde Mourana, founder of Cooperativa Luana Semeia Sorrisos, said that it is “important that every child and family member who is in the “Coluas” or outside of it, from the moment they are in a situation of disability, can smile and dream of a future Smiley. The presence of the BVM and its generous support are a noble gesture that sows smiles in our families”.

It should be noted that the BVM promoted training, lasting three days, for the children's mothers in matters related to nutrition, physiotherapy, psychological support and motivational lectures.

Cooperativa Luana Semeia Sorrisos is a non-profit association formed by a group of women whose children have a disability. Currently, it has provided support to 70 children, aged between 2 and 14 years.
