The Mozambique Stock Exchange (BVM) and the Higher Institute of Science and Technology of Mozambique (ISCTEM) , through the School of Economics and Business Management held this Wednesday, April 5, in Maputo, the launch of the 1st Scientific Conference on Capital Market and Stock Exchange. The act was addressed by the Chairman of the Board of the Mozambique Stock Exchange, Salim Cripton Valá, by the Director of the School of Economics and Business Management, Hélder Jauana.

Under the theme "The Capital Market as a Mechanism of Financing the Economy", the 1st edition of the Scientific Conferences aims to promote a reflection on the Capital Market and Stock Exchange in Mozambique, creating a space of knowledge and experience sharing among professors, researchers, students, specialists, technicians and other actors that have interest in developing researches in the area.

Speaking during the event, Salim Cripton Valá said that the scientific conferences are a pioneering initiative and that they come to respond to one of BVM's strategic pillars, which is to promote financial education, as well as to bring the institution closer to the academic community, in order to learn from it.

The BVM Chairman referred that the contents to be produced, in addition to broaden the angle of discussion about the Capital Market, will serve as a basis for making better informed decisions about the present and future of the Mozambican Stock Exchange.

"These days will allow Mozambicans, the economic agents, to have more information. These independent surveys, done by students, technicians, and researchers, are very important to illuminate our trajectory. We will, more than in the past, make decisions based on evidence, based on research, on what the researchers think are the best paths", said Salim Cripton Valá

For his part, Hélder Jauana, Director of the School of Economics and Business Management, of the Higher Institute of Science and Technology of Mozambique (ESEGN - ISCTEM), said that the scientific days are an opportunity for the academic community and the general public to deepen the discussion about the capital market as a financing mechanism in the country. In this sense, he urged the academic community and society, in general, to submit their communications / articles.

"These days take place within the framework of the work that we as an institution have been doing. Making a fruitful interaction with the labor market and that allows our students and our teachers not only to think critically about what happens in the business market, but also that students have contact with the employment market."

The 1st Scientific Conference on Capital Markets and Stock Exchange will take place in November of this year, at a date and place to be announced in due course.
