On May 4, BVM (Mozambique Stock Exchange) announced to the public the admission to listing of MATAMA - Matadouro da Manhiça, SA, in the Stock Exchange Official Listed Market

The event took place at the Hotel Polana in Maputo and was attended by stock exchange operators, state-owned companies, companies listed and in the process of admission to listing, BVM partners, among others.

MATAMA was established in March 2012, with the main activity being the slaughter, processing and sale of beef, operating in the southern area of the National Territory, with its head office located in the Matola City.

The operation has placed on the market 1,800,000 shares with a unitary par value of 250 MT which make up a share capital of 450,000,000 MT. It should be noted that, with the entry of MATAMA in the Official Listed Market on April 24, 2017, Mozambique Stock Exchange has now more securities in the shareholder segment, having moved from 4 to 5 securities segments.

It should be stressed that with admission to listing of MTAMA in the stock market, it gains greater visibility in the domestic market, greater attractiveness from domestic and foreign investors, greater potential for its valuation and the public has another alternative for applying their savings and the company also has access to more financing alternatives.

During the event, MATAMA´s CEO, Boavida Mutombene, stated that the admission to listing arose from the need to complement the investments required for the company's value chain. "This is a large project that will absorb about $ 60 million over the next few years. So far we have invested about 6 million dollars and we have exclusivity within a range of 200 kilometers, hence we are open to national and foreign investors through BVM." Boavida Mutombene also said that he recommends other companies to follow suit.

Furthermore, Salim Valá, BVM´s CEO, explained that the operation of Matadouro is the result of one of the priority objectives of BVM's strategy, attracting more companies to the stock market, and also said that about 150 companies had been visited by the end of the first quarter. He also emphasized that BVM aims to attract 3 more companies this year, with the hope that one of the companies might be a SME
